Read Across America

Lucy and Reuben's school celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday by supporting NEA's Read Across America Day. All the kids were asked to dress up like their favorite book characters. L & R came up with the characters and costumes themselves. I think they did pretty good. Can you guess their characters?

Answer: Lucy Pevensie and Harry Potter.

Mardi Gras parade

Mardi Gras is a big deal around here. Even though the official "Fat Tuesday" is more than a week away, the parades have begun all over the city. The way it works is you wave and shout, "Throw me something Mr." and then wait for all sorts of beads and goodies to come your way.

Here's Reuben with a Christmas goose!

"Throw me something, Mr.!"

Across the street from us was the old state capitol building and this amazing tree the kids couldn't resist climbing.

This picture is perfect for you to see just how amazing it really was.

Of course the parade had more than just masked men on horseback. There were also bands, dancers, floats, and of course enough beads to share.

Ruthy loved the beads Lucy tied to her car seat.

Reuben's new do

Reuben has been growing so fast we decided to help cover his ankles with some new Sunday clothes. We surprised him this morning with a whole new set that matches his favorite super hero, Dad. Handsome boys.

LSU vet school

Daniel and I took the kids to LSU school of veterinary medicine for a free (and clean?) opportunity to pet animals. We had a great time watching dogs do tricks and petting all sorts of creatures. The highlight of course was the cow. You'll see why in the pictures...

This pictures is just a bonus.
